THE ISSUE: The New York Yankees, one of the most revered franchises in all sports, were due to open their season at a new home for the first time since 1923 and the organization required a championship-caliber field worthy of the team’s then 26 world championships.

THE JOB: The Yankees turned to a name they trusted for their new field, Sports Construction Group, which had replaced the turf at the old Yankee Stadium in 2001 and worked with one-fifth of the teams in Major League Baseball. SCG nimbly worked around the challenges of teaming with the contractors who were building the stadium and coordinating the delivery of equipment and materials through the bustling metropolis of New York. The team proceeded to construct the sub base, complete with top-of-the-line drainage and irrigation systems. Finally, a secret blend of natural bluegrass turf was installed.
THE RESULTS: The result of these efforts was a flawless playing surface that sent the Bronx Bombers off toward a division title and the franchise’s 27th World Series championship.
